Marquetta Cheeks Intro to Film and Video Instructor A New Roads, Louisiana native, Cheeks has a career spanning 28 years in film, television, and music. Her expertise includes film and television production, music production, contract negotiations, and project development, among others. Cheeks began her career at Columbia Pictures and became a personal assistant to comedian Richard Pryor. From there she worked on films such as What Dreams May Come and the award winning “Indie” film The Middle Passage. She has also worked with music and entertainment acts such as EnVogue, Jasmine Guy, Malcolm J Warner, Brenda Russell and Johnny Gill. Cheeks is the President of Production at Emerald Bayou Studios. She is currently producing features such as Murphy’s Creek with Rob Walker directing, and Dear Isuan, which she co-wrote.
